All The Tools You Need To Build A Successful Psychedelic  Practice

Full curriculum for starting or expanding a Ketamine Clinic:

This can be a stand-alone training for ketamine clinics, or you can choose to incorporate curriculum elements specific to a Psychedelic Medicine practice using Ketamine.  

Includes two days of individualized, on-site curriculum covering everything you need to build, run or expand your clinic or practice.

Lunch is included on both days as well as two nights of lodgings in a newly renovated two-bedroom apartment in the heart of downtown Asheville. Coffee and tea are provided on-site all day on both days.

You will arrive Tuesday afternoon or evening and check into the lodgings.  Training takes place Wednesday and Thursday during business hours, with Wednesday evening free.  Checkout is Thursday late afternoon, with luggage storage available if needed for later travel times. For those who would like to extend their stay in Asheville, additional nights at the apartment can be rented on request. Training Includes:

1. One hour video meeting for introductions, goals and individualizing a plan for you.
2. In person training on-site in our Asheville, NC clinic including individual teaching, clinic shadowing and live demonstrations (subject to patients’ permission).
3. Topics Covered Day One:
   1. Setting up a Ketamine Clinic:
      1. physical layout
      2. room set up

• Consideration of types of client: Ketamine infusion clients, KAP clients, other emerging psychedelic treatment options to prepare for (MDMA, psilocybin), and things to keep in mind for future changes in the field.

1. Supply lists and ordering. What is needed: from alcohol swabs to bandages – everything you need to know, where to get it and how to go about it.
2. Ordering ketamine directly from suppliers.
3. Relationships with compounding pharmacies and how to order and work with compounded forms of ketamine.

• Different routes of administration and the pros and cons of each for different indications:  IV Ketamine vs. IM, IN, or SL/troche. The prescriber role and administration considerations individualized for the needs of your practice.
• Working collaboratively with psychedelic psychotherapists in patient care: employment versus contracting versus cross-referral relationships

1. In depth Ketamine discussion (tailored to individual knowledge, comfort and goals):
   1. What is Ketamine and how is it used for mental health treatment as well as chronic pain conditions.
   2. How to provide orientation and informed consent for patients.

• Prescriber specific topics relative to administration of Ketamine: dosing, concentration, bioavailability, and kinetics and what needs to be considered for each type of client.

1.  Infusion treatment versus Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP): providing parallel service lines. Includes discussion of IV Ketamine versus other routes. Prescriber role and administration considerations.
   1. Ketamine administration for pharmacological treatment- methods.
   2. Ketamine administration for KAP purposes-methods.
2. Clinic Licenses, permits and certifications (subject to variation based on your state).
3. Day one summary and Q&A
4. Shadowing Opportunities Covered Day Two:
   1. Live clinic day – Implementation of day one knowledge with clients – from greeting a patient in the waiting room to the departure.
   2. Shadow the prescriber role for Ketamine infusion for pharmacological care.
   3. Shadow the prescriber role for Ketamine infusion for KAP.
   4. Clinic flow: how to schedule, staff ratios and roles.

5. Day Two Lunch and meeting with clinic staff: Q&A with other providers and therapists about their roles and perspectives.
6. Afternoon Summary of the training and final Q&A individualized to your goals.
7. Option of a one-hour video follow up, scheduled after the onsite training.
8. Option of ongoing mentorship for consultation on as-needed basis, billed at an hourly rate, for ongoing questions that arise as you move into your practice.

Can I share consulting time with a colleague?   For online mentoring and coaching for setting up a practice, I typically work with one to two people, as long as both will be building the same clinic or practice, as my coaching is individualized to your practice's needs. For in-person clinic shadowing, I limit the size to two people maximum, in order to give you each enough individual instruction and not disrupt patient care in our clinic.

How is payment collected?  For individual sessions, you will provide a credit card, which I keep on file and charge at the time of our meetings at the rate of $300/hour.  For the clinic training package, we require a deposit of half the amount at the time of scheduling with the second half due on the day of arrival. 

Can I record our meetings?  Yes! It is your time, so if having a recording to reference is helpful for you, we can easily arrange that.  

What if our practice is a mix of prescribers and therapists?  How can this be useful?  We are often contacted by mixed practice groups, and I encourage your primary practice administrator to schedule a consultation to discuss how working with us can be individualized for your group. Often, what works best is some sessions dedicated specifically to prescriber or administrative coaching, some dedicated to psychotherapy training, and some dedicated to the combined group.

Do you provide reference materials I can keep?  Yes, depending on what we are covering, I will provide handouts, checklists, written guidelines or even instructional videos that you can keep and use.

What is your on-site shadowing option? This option is best for medical providers who want to learn to prescribe or administer psychedelic ketamine or run a ketamine clinic.  It includes overnight lodgings in Asheville, NC and 1-2 days of shadowing in our outpatient clinic. Do you provide experiential training?  Yes! We offer several ways for you to experience psychedelic ketamine yourself as part of your learning. One is through group introductory retreats, and you can find out more about this on our website under "Services". A second option is to pair with another interested person and visit our Asheville, NC clinic for a day of supervised sessions, with on-site lodgings included.  More information is available on the website under "Trainings and Experientials" or through an initial consultation.  We also accommodate single sessions for individual trainee providers interested in having a training ketamine session at our clinic, with one of our expert therapists acting as sitter/guide.

What makes your trainings different?  We have no "filler" content. Meaning, if you can find the information on Google, we aren't covering it.  Everything we cover is focused on:
